Personal Finance Seminar - 2/4/20 at 12pm
The Graduate Student and Postdoc's Guide to Personal Finance
Are you ready to take the next step with your finances as a graduate student or postdoc? Do you want to learn how to allocate your money more optimally, break the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck, build up savings, and/or begin investing? This seminar teaches graduate students who receive stipends and postdocs how they can develop positive lifelong financial habits and increase their net worth while still in training. The topics covered in this seminar are: financial goals, budgeting, saving, investing, debt repayment, and taxes.
This event is co-sponsored by SOPS, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, the Graduate School and the Office of Biomedical Education.

SOPS organizes a wide variety of professional development and social events throughout the year. In addition, In June of each year we hold a Research Symposium open to graduate student and postdoc presenters.
Events are open to all but tend to be especially interesting to postdoctoral scholars and fellows, visiting fellows, and upper-level graduate students.
Types of events:
- Social: Network with other UK postdocs
- Professional development workshops: Faculty members will give lectures about important skills to make your postdoc successful and how to prepare for future careers.
- Seminar series: A chance for postdocs to practice their speaking skills. A great way to prepare for a conference or job talk.
